A while back some fancy one-off boat set some record, i think it was the fastest Atlantic or Pacific crossing. The boat runs on biofuel if i remember right and it looks really cool. I was reading about it after their record run and they were going to join the sea shepards after some retrofitting. I was curious as to what they thought their role would be in fighting Japanese whalers, looks like their role would be to get their fancy batboat smashed to shit and get blasted in the faces with a fire hose. If you watch closely, the best part is they are sitting idle and power their way into the path of the ship.


EDIT: Here's their website, it's called Earthrace. It doesn't look like its been updated since the last time i was on it probably a year ago. It was going to go around the world, not just one of the oceans.

Great minds think alike. I also was looking for info on that all carbon fiber oddity but couldn't find info on it before they slapped a coat of flat black on it. They say they were not under power when they were cut in half but the Jap video shows prop wash. I think they were both at fault. Interesting stuff.

This is one of the few shows I'll sit down to watch with a beer and popcorn and throw more popcorn at the TV than eat.

The locals here debate which side is the real terrorist. Regardless, they're rooting for the Japanese, but I still think it falls under the Clerks' Storm Trooper / Death Star debate.

Helo deck big enough for a CH-53. Huge storage capacity under that flight deck and the size of the flight deck is impressive.

Note also that there is very little spreading wake. In fact, it does not look like a wake at all, just foamy water from the water jets. Somehow, at 40 knots, you'd think there would be more wake.
